Herby Flatbread for the Grill!

PollyAugust 28, 2025September 16, 2025

We love this! It does take a bit of finesse to cook the flatbread over a fire, and we are not always successful, but it’s a fun project to do while the BBQ’d meat is resting and the coals are…

Blueberry Crumb Bars

PollyAugust 24, 2025August 28, 2025

For a few years, we subscribed to Raddish, a cooking program for kids. Every month we received a box with three recipes, a kitchen tool, a cooking badge, table topics, and some related educational materials. Each box had a theme:…

Summer Fruit Coffeecake

PollyAugust 23, 2025August 28, 2025

I adore coffeecake. Coffeecake is served warm, so it’s comforting and can be served directly from the pan it was baked in. It doesn’t have frosting, so it’s not too-too overly sweet. It’s communal, shouting out to be shared with…

Polly’s Grilled Tequila Tri-Tip Sandwiches

PollyAugust 5, 2025September 16, 2025

This is one of my family’s favorite BBQ meals—marinated and grilled tri-tip, on a toasted bun, with fresh tomato relish–yum! I’ve been making these for at least a decade, and the bits and pieces of this recipe came from so…

I found two good recipe for fresh peaches this year! This one is the standout—I hope it’s served at every summer BBQ 🙂 The previously posted Peach Crumble Bars are delicious, too 🙂 As you can see from the picture above,…

Fresh Tomato Tart

PollyAugust 2, 2025September 2, 2025

My neighbors and Facebook friends have been asking for recipes to use up their tomatoes.  I have two good ones.  The Fresh Tomato Lasagna that I posted earlier this week, and this Fresh Tomato Tart were a staple at our…

Grilled Mint Marinated Lamb with Pistachio Pesto

PollyAugust 1, 2025September 16, 2025

Absolutely one of our favorite BBQ dishes! We serve the lamb with a grilled, herby flat bread or homemade pita, and a rice pilaf. There’s no Pistachio Pesto in the photo, unfortunately, but if there were you’d be amazed by…

Blueberry Lemonade

PollyJuly 29, 2025August 28, 2025

Thought I might like this…and I was right! Loved it. The blueberry taste is not pronounced, but the color they give to the drink is fantastic. Bbbb…b…bbut…the lemonade is pinkish RED, not blue! Surprise! Once-upon-a-time we had a delightful 4…

About Me

polly of the kitchen

It's all about the recipe—really, it is! I have amassed quite a collection of recipes from my favorite cookbooks, food magazines, friends, the Internet, and more recently my adult daughters. I test every recipe I post. Some I've been cooking for years, decades even, and a few I have made only a few times. I don't post mediocre recipes. I don't post good recipes. I post GREAT recipes! When I find a recipe I LOVE, I can't wait to share it. I started In the Kitchen with Polly on January 01, 2010, a joint venture between myself and my non-cooking but most excellent webmaster, proofreader, technical goddess and all-around bestie, ratty (not a joke—ratty is her chosen nickname—her Mama didn’t do that to her, she did it to herself!). Last year we hit a snag—the website went up in monstrous flames. It took a long time to sort out what happened and even longer to recreate what was lost. Hundreds of pictures gone, and every recipe we posted (300+) over the last 14 years had to be reformatted, many pictures retaken. It's done now though, and we are back! I like this brighter version :) Scroll through! Find something you like, and let's get cooking! There’s a search button and there are also tags to click on if you want to find a recipe for a specific food. If you need it, the print button is on the preview page and at the end of each post.

Enjoy!
