Peach Crumble Bars

PollyAugust 30, 2022August 28, 2025

Peaches are really good this year, which is good news after a few disappointing crops the last few years.  I’ve enjoyed some delicious, chin dripping peaches this summer.  Topping that, I’ve also had success with two new recipes using fresh…

Millie’s Strawberry Lemonade

PollyJuly 20, 2022August 28, 2025

This picture shows a frothy Strawberry Lemonade because sparkling water had just been added and it was vigorously stirred 🙂 Once upon a time I joined a Yoga Group. This group had been gathering for a decade or more for…

Another photo of mine corrupted, sigh. This photo is borrowed from Elegant Foods until I make my next batch! I’ve been having so much fun with my ice cream makers 🙂 I hope you have one, too! Personally, homemade blackberry…

S’mores Bars

PollyOctober 24, 2020August 28, 2025

These S’mores Bars are all dressed up and ready for Halloween, but we began making them this summer when our camping trip was cancelled. My daughter, Abby, looooves s’mores and we were looking for something to soften the blow of…

Fresh Blueberry Pie

PollyJuly 22, 2020March 7, 2026

I make two* no-bake pies in the summer, a Fresh Strawberry Chocolate Pie and this Fresh Blueberry Pie. Fresh pies are quick to pull together, don’t heat up the kitchen, and are crowd pleasers. Just remember to start early in…

Homemade Cherry Pie (from fresh cherries)

PollyMay 27, 2020March 7, 2026

My daughter used to have a cherry tree in her back yard and the cherry crop was always enormous! We were in cherry heaven for a few years and then, suddenly and most unfortunately, the tree died. It was a…

I am fortunate to live in an area with some remaining cherry orchards. For a few weeks each year these orchards are open for U-Pick cherries.  Seeing as how we are in the midst of a pandemic—80 days of Shelter-In-Place…

Fresh Corn Soup

PollyOctober 2, 2019February 5, 2026

This is such a plain and simple recipe, it’s hard to believe such a good tasting soup comes out of it! The ingredient list for this soup is so ordinary that it’s hard to imagine the exceptional taste.  Been there,…

About Me

polly of the kitchen

It's all about the recipe—really, it is! I have amassed quite a collection of recipes from my favorite cookbooks, food magazines, friends, the Internet, and more recently my adult daughters. I test every recipe I post. Some I've been cooking for years, decades even, and a few I have made only a few times. I don't post mediocre recipes. I don't post good recipes. I post GREAT recipes! When I find a recipe I LOVE, I can't wait to share it. I started In the Kitchen with Polly on January 01, 2010, a joint venture between myself and my non-cooking but most excellent webmaster, proofreader, technical goddess and all-around bestie, ratty (not a joke—ratty is her chosen nickname—her Mama didn’t do that to her, she did it to herself!). Last year we hit a snag—the website went up in monstrous flames. It took a long time to sort out what happened and even longer to recreate what was lost. Hundreds of pictures gone, and every recipe we posted (300+) over the last 14 years had to be reformatted, many pictures retaken. It's done now though, and we are back! I like this brighter version :) Scroll through! Find something you like, and let's get cooking! There’s a search button and there are also tags to click on if you want to find a recipe for a specific food. If you need it, the print button is on the preview page and at the end of each post.

Enjoy!
