Tropical Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Tortilla Chips

PollyApril 25, 2025August 28, 2025

The biggest issue with this dish is when to eat it! Is it a dessert? Appetizer? Snack? All three work, but I think the best is a quiet summer afternoon on the porch with a chilled beverage of choice. Tropical…

Caprese Garlic Bread

PollySeptember 11, 2024August 28, 2025

It’s just garlic bread, folks, but it’s garlic bread with an upgrade! There are tomatoes, mozzarella and basil! After running across this recipe at Two Peas and their Pod,  I decided I needed to make it—now! I quickly sent texts to a few friends…

Chocolate Zucchini Cake

PollyJuly 7, 2024August 28, 2025

Hannah says it’s the best chocolate cake she’s tasted—I think that’s stretching it a bit. But this cake is quite moist, very tasty and somewhat good for you, as cake goes, with the 2 cups of zucchini, some applesauce in…

Blackberry Ribs

PollyJune 27, 2024September 16, 2025

I know this picture looks a bit dry. The ribs are not dry! I was so anxious to take some pictures I forgot to douse them with the leftover Blackberry BBQ sauce, and then everyone had them on their plate,…

Fresh Tomato Lasagna

PollySeptember 29, 2023August 28, 2025

This lasagna is creamy, cheesy and fresh tasting, but lighter than regular lasagna—though still rich. Since there are so few ingredients in this lasagna make sure your tomatoes are the BEST; they’re what makes this lasagna! Although this pan of lasagna looks…

Mixed Berry Pie

PollySeptember 7, 2023March 7, 2026

Been to the Farmers’ Markets this weekend? Did you buy a bunch of berries? Time for a Mixed Berry Pie! Mixed Berry Pie is my favorite fruit pie. The orange zest sets this pie above all other berry pies, and…

Lemon Cream Ice Cream

PollyJune 1, 2023August 28, 2025

Bet you’ve never had Lemon Ice Cream . . .  Not lemon sorbet, or lemon sherbet, or lemon granita or lemon frozen yogurt, but real lemon ice cream—creamy, rich, sweet, intense lemon ice cream. Intrigued? Tempted? I hope so, because I have…

About Me

polly of the kitchen

It's all about the recipe—really, it is! I have amassed quite a collection of recipes from my favorite cookbooks, food magazines, friends, the Internet, and more recently my adult daughters. I test every recipe I post. Some I've been cooking for years, decades even, and a few I have made only a few times. I don't post mediocre recipes. I don't post good recipes. I post GREAT recipes! When I find a recipe I LOVE, I can't wait to share it. I started In the Kitchen with Polly on January 01, 2010, a joint venture between myself and my non-cooking but most excellent webmaster, proofreader, technical goddess and all-around bestie, ratty (not a joke—ratty is her chosen nickname—her Mama didn’t do that to her, she did it to herself!). Last year we hit a snag—the website went up in monstrous flames. It took a long time to sort out what happened and even longer to recreate what was lost. Hundreds of pictures gone, and every recipe we posted (300+) over the last 14 years had to be reformatted, many pictures retaken. It's done now though, and we are back! I like this brighter version :) Scroll through! Find something you like, and let's get cooking! There’s a search button and there are also tags to click on if you want to find a recipe for a specific food. If you need it, the print button is on the preview page and at the end of each post.

Enjoy!
