Cinnamon Swirled Sweet Potato Bundt Cake

PollyJune 3, 2010July 30, 2025

One more post for tonight and no, it’s not the right season for bundt cake, but it sounded so yummy I had to make it 🙂 I pestered a stranger, Angie Holmes, for the recipe after I had seen her…

Polly’s 3-2-1 Smoothies

PollyJune 3, 2010August 28, 2025

I’m pretty sure I was one of the first people ever to taste a smoothie 🙂 There was a smoothie man on campus at San Diego State University in 1976. He had a blender, fresh pineapple, fresh bananas, and a…

Chicken Tortellini Soup

PollyJune 2, 2010February 5, 2026

This soup is delicious, hearty, and very, very easy to pull together, so it’s a staple around here. Everyone likes it. You could leave out the chicken, I often do now (I seem to want to eat less meat as…

Chicken Enchiladas with Green Sauce

PollyMay 2, 2010April 26, 2026

Mmmm, must have been the thought of Cinco de Mayo, but I’ve finally found a great green sauce for enchiladas! Not spicy—though it would be easy to up the heat—but tasty and tangy, which it should be, having being made…

Strawberry Oatmeal Scones

PollyMay 2, 2010July 29, 2025

My daughter Abby insisted I post these—she said they are delicious! She’s a wonderful girl, but unfortunately suffering from dorm-food-itis. Nevertheless, these scones are good, and they do look pretty!  They’d be good with a Mother’s Day cup of tea, don’t…

Brown Sugar Ice Cream

PollyMay 1, 2010July 30, 2025

In the last few weeks, I have deemed only one new recipe worthy of posting, and it’s this one:  Brown Sugar Ice Cream. My daughter Abby brought home a quart of Haagan-Daz’s Brown Sugar ice-cream a few months ago, so…

PollyApril 26, 2010August 28, 2025

In the US, a “good” dinner is a main dish, maybe a veggie, a starch and a green salad.  In England, the norm for a “good” dinner is a main dish, mash and three veggies. I’m English. Three veggies, please! …

Pan-Fried Halibut

PollyApril 26, 2010August 8, 2025

I love this recipe! The lemon peel and the panko are the magic ingredients used to enhance that good quality halibut—often found at Costco. If I were collecting my favorite favorite recipes, this would definitely be one of my top…

About Me

polly of the kitchen

It's all about the recipe—really, it is! I have amassed quite a collection of recipes from my favorite cookbooks, food magazines, friends, the Internet, and more recently my adult daughters. I test every recipe I post. Some I've been cooking for years, decades even, and a few I have made only a few times. I don't post mediocre recipes. I don't post good recipes. I post GREAT recipes! When I find a recipe I LOVE, I can't wait to share it. I started In the Kitchen with Polly on January 01, 2010, a joint venture between myself and my non-cooking but most excellent webmaster, proofreader, technical goddess and all-around bestie, ratty (not a joke—ratty is her chosen nickname—her Mama didn’t do that to her, she did it to herself!). Last year we hit a snag—the website went up in monstrous flames. It took a long time to sort out what happened and even longer to recreate what was lost. Hundreds of pictures gone, and every recipe we posted (300+) over the last 14 years had to be reformatted, many pictures retaken. It's done now though, and we are back! I like this brighter version :) Scroll through! Find something you like, and let's get cooking! There’s a search button and there are also tags to click on if you want to find a recipe for a specific food. If you need it, the print button is on the preview page and at the end of each post.

Enjoy!
