My daughter, who shall remain nameless (so I don’t embarrass her, HA!), has a crazy crush on a French exchange student. It’s one exchange student in particular, but there are about thirty others she’s crazy about if this one doesn’t…

Chinese Pasta Salad? Is there such a thing? I doubt it—so what is this?! I don’t know what else to call it! Chinese Pasta Salad is the name it arrived with and I welcome all suggestions for a new name 🙂 This cold…

I wish I’d had this recipe decades ago! I had three small kids, and I had to take a lot of food to a lot of potlucks, meetings, classes, games, gatherings and parties 🙂 I also had to pull together a…

Holy Moly! This recipe delivers in both taste and presentation! The original recipe stated this is a traditional Tuscan harvest dish, but I know I have never run across anything like this before—not that I have ever been to Tuscany…

Here is my favorite recipe for butter cookies—it’s an easy one, and the cookies are melt-in-your-mouth delicious!  A Mommy group friend made these for a Christmas Cookie Exchange way back when our babies were just toddlers. Now my toddler has…

About Me

polly of the kitchen

It's all about the recipe—really, it is! I have amassed quite a collection of recipes from my favorite cookbooks, food magazines, friends, the Internet, and more recently my adult daughters. I test every recipe I post. Some I've been cooking for years, decades even, and a few I have made only a few times. I don't post mediocre recipes. I don't post good recipes. I post GREAT recipes! When I find a recipe I LOVE, I can't wait to share it. I started In the Kitchen with Polly on January 01, 2010, a joint venture between myself and my non-cooking but most excellent webmaster, proofreader, technical goddess and all-around bestie, ratty (not a joke—ratty is her chosen nickname—her Mama didn’t do that to her, she did it to herself!). Last year we hit a snag—the website went up in monstrous flames. It took a long time to sort out what happened and even longer to recreate what was lost. Hundreds of pictures gone, and every recipe we posted (300+) over the last 14 years had to be reformatted, many pictures retaken. It's done now though, and we are back! I like this brighter version :) Scroll through! Find something you like, and let's get cooking! There’s a search button and there are also tags to click on if you want to find a recipe for a specific food. If you need it, the print button is on the preview page and at the end of each post.

Enjoy!
